With only one day to spare, combine the old town with the must-see museum and a good viewpoint. This route starts in Gamla Stan, continues to Djurgården and ends on Södermalm. All times are approximate.

Morning: the old town

Start at Stortorget in Gamla Stan, then continue to the Royal Palace for the changing of the guard.

Afternoon and evening

Take the tram or ferry to Djurgården for the Vasa Museum, then head up to the viewpoint at Katarinahissen and finish with dinner in Södermalm.
